The Game Masters web-comic premiered on webtoons.com on the 2nd of November in the year of 2018 with the episode titled "Monsters and Mazes." It was an instant hit among the new series' on the platform, Receiving over 10,000 subscribers in just one month! The comedy-fantasy series has continued to grow since then and quickly became Trivium Comics' biggest intellectual property.
Thing weren't always going so smoothly for Game Masters, It had a very rough start before the first episode was even published. While the comic may have premiered in 2018, The first episode remained as just a sketch with no progress for two years. And before that it was just a script that remained in a folder for three more years. During that time of having the first episode on stasis, The Game Masters project was nearly scrapped entirely a few times. It almost never saw the light of day at all. |
The first episode of Game Masters was written alongside five other series' episodes and story concepts. One of those six total projects was picked up and became what we now know as the series Gemini Twilight, Two of the other projects were then scrapped. After a few years, A new artist joined the Trivium Comics team and was to turn one of the three remaining projects into a comic series, Where the remaining two would be scrapped. The project that was selected was then given it's official name, "Game Masters."
Soon after production on Game Masters Began. Different art styles were tested, But a semi-chibi style was ultimately chosen for the series to match the comedic tone of the story. The designs of the characters, their weapons and even their house was completed. The script was then given more detail, ironed out and finalized, Ready to be produced into the first official episode of Game Masters. After the episode was sketched, The artist graduated from college and chose to leave the project behind to focus on his career as a dentist. With the original artist's permission, Trivium Comics looked for a new artist who was able to mimic the original art style, But none were found. Game Masters was then put on hold indefinitely. |
Two years later, A new artist joined the Trivium Comics team. This artist's work had a very familiar look to it. This artist was given the original Game Masters sketches and concept art as reference to try and mimic the style. It was a complete success and the first episode was promptly completed, The rest is history. Game Masters has avoided being scrapped and cancelled through sheer luck to end up becoming one of Webtoons most popular canvas series'. Multiple new artists have been added to the team for a consistent stream of updates and to avoid anymore hiatus'. The series continues to grow and introduce new fans to the most likable-unlikable group of weebs that are now known as the Game Masters.
